What am I doing?

So today was a highly frustrating day in photography! All of my photos were turning out way to dark! I do however love the photos my Friend, Angelina, took of me trying to look like I know what I am doing when taking a shot of my daughter! When I got home I told my husband of my problem and he asked to see my camera...Wallah! He was able to fix it! Without reading the manual mind you! So at the end of the day I was able to play and get some better photos!

Hands!

I like these shots I got today of my son's hands and a marble in my friends son's hands!

Play Time!

It was a great afternoon for playing outside. The babes were having a blast with dandelions and bubbles. I was thankful for the warmth this afternoon! It was nice to get out and enjoy it!

School has started bring on the Madness!

This time of year our kids are going back to school and our families are adjusting to combining our summer schedules with our new school ones. The start of school brings with it homework, PTA meetings, play dates and classroom celebrations, just to name a few. This can become a little overwhelming when it feels your schedule is becoming over loaded. I have come across an article I enjoyed highlighting some ways to coordinate your schedules. While all tips won't fit every aspect of your life, you may find something in it that will help you during this transition time. Enjoy!

My Handsome Husband

I have to say I have the most handsome husband! I am just so very thankful for him and all he does for our family. I pray for his self confidence. Tonight he is at band practice for our church band. He doesn't think he is a very good guitar player, I think he is awesome. He has written his own music and can pretty much play anything by ear. I am so happy that he is finally using his passion to touch the lives of others. He is definitely stepping out of his comfort zone and for that I am so proud of him.

To go along with the Yummiest Snack ever!

Today I decided to make my own pita bread to go along with the "Yummiest Snack ever". The cost is outrageous for the number of pitas you get! I am excited to make some yummy pita chips with them! If you like pita bread/chips, I think it would be cost effective to make your own!

2 pkg. active dry yeast
2 tsp. sugar
1 1/2c. warm water
4c. flour (I used wheat flour)
1 tsp. salt

Put yeast and sugar in the warm water ans stir until dissolved. Add flour and salt. Mix well. Knead the dough generously for 5 minutes. Then divide into equal parts to make 12 balls. Roll out each ball on a floured board until about 7 inches in diameter and about 1/3 inches in thickness. Let the pitas rise in a warm place for 1/2 hour or until puffy. Bake a few at a time in a 500 degree oven for no more than 5 minutes.

I am sure there is an easier way to make these in a bread machine but I have yet to find a recipe. If you have one please share.

What a week!

This last week has definitely been some what of a test I think. Our schedules got just a little busier with swim practice, Mops, Photography Class, Surgery, Colds and an Emergency room visit.

My DH had elective surgery so that we won't have any little surprises! He has done great except the following Dr. orders part. He shouldn't be lifting more than 15 pounds but with two 19 month old toddlers I think he finds it unrealistic. He really has taken it like a champ though!

Our oldest is finally back in swim and is loving it. I love that she is getting some physical activity and having fun at the same time! She is really enjoying 1st grade!

Mops was wonderful. It was nice to meet some new moms that are in the same life stages and facing the same challenges! I am looking forward to what this year is going to bring!

My photography class was so much fun, not so much that the class itself was fun (just an introductory and meet others and find out what everyone expects to learn) but my friend Angelina is so funny and such a blast to hang out with. I hope I don't distract her too much during class...I guess my oldest gets talking in class naturally! I am super excited to learn and play!

The cold season is upon us and I believe it has run its course in our house. I apologize to all those we have come in contact with and shared the joy with.

So onto the ER visit...I did things differently when I picked my daughter up from school on Friday. I drove to get her, which I normally do not do. I didn't unlock my door before getting the kids out of the van. I got my son out and turned to get my daughter out when he decided to go look at dad's bicycle. He pulled it over on himself. From behind, it looked as though it just kind of landed in his lap but when I picked it up and looked at him, he had a nice gash on the top of his head. I walked all of the kids over to our most awesome neighbors house and they helped me get him cleaned up a little bit. I left the girls with them and my husband (who made it home fairly quickly) and I took him to the ER. We waited for 3 hours but we left with one staple in the front of his head. He was fine with everything. I had a hard time not feeling like the worst mother in the world and felt a little nauseous, the head bleeds a lot! He is great and we should have the staple removed Wednesday or Thursday! I pray I can handle what ever this next week brings!

Can you guess what this is?

This is a fun photo that my husband took... It was taken at my daughter's swimming practice! It is a reflection of these lights in a puddle next to the pool!

Playing with editing!

So I am playing around with editing my photos...I am so far from knowing anything it isn't even funny...Here is a shot I took of my son yesterday....I love the look on his face and the fact that both of the twins are looking at something very thoughtfully!

The day of Good!

Today I feel especially blessed! I have prayed for someone to come into my life that has the same values as I do. It isn't that I have a hard time making friends, I just have hard time keeping them. Not because I feel they are bad people but they just don't have the same interest/priorities that I do. It just so happens that I have made friends with my neighbor who is also striving to be a Godly wife and mother. I have had my fair share of falling off the horse but I am happy to say I have gotten back on and I am trying my best to have a daily relationship with God and make my husband and children a top priority.
I thank God for giving me a husband that is my best friend! He is trying his best to be a Godly husband and does a much better job at showing me what Love looks like...He is a wonderful father...Our children are in love with him...It is so beautiful...I really have been blessed beyond belief and I am working hard on remembering that everyday!

My Baby Girl!

My little one was so beautiful today! I loved hanging out and spending time with them. Even though it was a bit of a stressful weekend I have to say My kids are great. My little ones had a great time running around the yard this afternoon. Now almost 19 months, the twins are so expressive and excited. My baby girl loves animals and my little boy is into throwing balls and climbing everything. The best moment was watching my son throw a ball at the wall and it would bounce back to him and thrill him to no end! My oldest is too smart for her own good. She is so funny and helpful. She is such a great storyteller.

Yummiest Snack ever!

Today I tried the yummiest snack ever...Thank you Angelina for sharing! Homemade Pita chips! Check out this recipe...so quick and yummy!

Here Today Gone Tommorrow!

My poor husband (again)...because of his procedure on Friday he had to miss his work group photo. In which his collegues decided to all grow mustaches. My husband did not dislike but wasn't excited to have a mustache. After all that he had to miss the photo!

One of those Days

Today was one of those days where you just can't get things going the way you think they should. My poor husband is laid out after having his vasectomy. And I am left to do all myself. Not that I mind taking care of my family, I have just become so dependant on having a partner to help with the day to day! It started when I put the twins in bed to get a shower. My son thought it a good idea to take off his diaper and proceed to pee in his bed! My oldest was being difficult. I don't think anyone in my family handles change very well! We very much needed to go grocery shopping. I took all three kids by myself. I took the stroller in and pulled the cart. My son is getting too heavy for the stroller, so that was becoming hard to push. As my cart began to fill, it was becoming hard to pull...I finally left my cart, took the stroller to the van and transferred my groceries to a car cart and strapped the kids in. My baby girl cried last 1/2 of our shopping trip. Thank you to my friend for getting me out of my house, even if there was a couple of hiccups. Kids being kids...Hopefully my 6 year old isn't banished after the hitting. I have to remember that God never gives us more than we can handle. I have to remember that how I react to situations is rubbing off on my children and that is how they will learn to shed their frustration. This next week is bringing much change. Our oldest is starting her swim back up, my husband will now be practicing with our church band at least twice a month, I am starting a photog class, and our church home group is starting back up. My only concern is that with our oldest now in school all day and this being the busiest our family has been that we are not putting too much on our plates...I am excited about it all though!
I pray for guidance as a wife/parent and good human being!

Day of Remembrence!

It is hard to believe that it has been 7 years since the tragic events that took place on September 11th. I am thankful to God that I am part of a nation that is able put the pieces back together but never forget what we are blessed with. God Bless the USA!

Happy Birthday Husband!

Happy Birthday to my husband! Yesterday we celebrated my husband's birthday! I hope that he knows I feel like the luckiest girl because of him. I hope that he had a great afternoon at least. I know his day at work is not quite what he was expecting. He seemed to enjoy his gifts. Our oldest picked out exactly what she wanted to get him. A pair of Guitar Hero pj shorts and a diet coke. She was very specific in getting him the diet coke, knowing that it is his favorite drink. She is no longer allowed to know anything that is supposed to be a surprise. I had invited over his best friend for cake and ice cream but did not tell him. About an hour before they got here she yells down the hall "When are they supposed to get here?" I also did not tell him I got a cake that he asked for. I did not bake just so he couldn't smell whether or not we got one...she tells him that there are so many candles that we have to light it outside or we might burn the house down...It was pretty funny. But in some fashion my husband usually finds out about any surprise we have for him...I find it pretty frustrating because it makes it so hard to do anything special for him...oh well, we got a good laugh out of it. The babes loved their cake. I love little man's face...Baby girl loves cleaning up! I am so blessed with the family God has blessed me with. I hope that my husband had a wonderful birthday and feels just as blessed as I do!

The Kids during the Race!

The kids were not extremely happing this morning during the race. My husband got some really pretty shots of our oldest. Little Dude was loving checking stuff out. He thought the people were neat to watch. Our Drama Queen was not in a good mood at all, I think her face says it all! By the time we left the babes were so tired and we were really bummed to have missed out on going to breakfast with friends but the twins were out before we left the parking lot. I plan on continuing to run so hopefully it is something they can get into and eventually enjoy. They were pooped, as am I! Time to rest up! What a blast of a morning though! I think the week has caught up to them. Our oldest started school and so our schedules have changed. They too are in an adjustment period.

Race Day

Today I ran my first 5K! I finished in 00:31:57. Normally I run the distance in 45 mins. I have to say that I am surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did...I am very thankful to Heather for giving me the push I needed to not stop and walk, esp. during that incline. It was great being around all of the people, it was such motivation. I was amazed at how many young kids were out there running as well. I do believe that even though I am pooped right now that I am hooked! Thank you again Heather for the motivation to get going and keep up!

Day 2!

Last night my husband and I got to go out for a couple of hours and celebrate his birthday at his favorite restaurant. It was great, the most stress free couple of hours I have had in a long time. I did get to take a couple of photos while we were out. The Bruschetta is my husbands favorite. Many thanks to our sitters, You guys are awesome!

New found love for Photography!

These are some of the first photos I have taken with my new camera. The lighting is off on her face. This is a favorite for me though. I need to learn the ins and outsof photoshop for some retouching but I am hoping to learn how my camera operates manually so that I can achieve some great straight out of camera shots.
